Holdsworth Campagnolo Instagram Team Feed At The Roy Thame Cup

Holdsworth team1974

This year sees the  30th anniversary of the Roy Thame Cup, the first big race of the UK cycling season and we can think of no more fitting event for the new Team Holdsworth Campagnolo’s inaugural race and first Instagram Web stream than the race named after the manager of the original Team Holdsworth Campagnolo.

To celebrate the first race of the season and to put you right in touch with behind the scenes and race action during the day, we’ll be web streaming from the team car. You can check out the action and watch the race unfold exactly as it’s experienced by the team staff. If you can’t be at the race login and check out the action from our Holdsworth Team Instagram Feed.

Roy was a mainstay at Holdsworth for more than 50 years and was responsible for establishing and managing the original Holdsworth Campagnolo pro-team. As well as managing the Holdsworth team Roy also managed the Great Britain team in multiple World Championships, he was chairman of the British professional Cycle Racing Association, served on a number of British Cycling federation committees and was regularly called upon to act as commissaire at many of the UK’s most prestigious multi-day races.

If ever there was a man who gave his life to the love and cycling it was Roy, and the team are proud to be pulling on their racing kit for the first time in the race that bears his name.

UCI Approved

The team will be riding something a lot more modern for their first race and will be competing on their newly UCI approved Holdsworth Super Professional race bikes. Just like it was back in the day, they’re racing on beautiful Italian componentry, though their Campagnolo Super Record EPS groupsets are a far cry from the components that the team originally rode in the 70’s.

Roy Thame Cup

Hemel Hempstead CC organises the race each year and it’s a double-header with the 3rd and 4th cat Spring Chicken RR kicking off before the main Elite, 1st and 2nd cat Roy Thame Cup event which kicks off at 1:30 pm. Both races are headquartered at the The Royal Latin School, Brookfield Lane, Buckingham, Bucks, MK18 1AX and we welcome you to come along to watch the boys in action.

Being part of the Central Road Race League it’s a big event that pulls in a strong field from the UK’s biggest teams. Riders from Madison Genesis and Team KTM UK will be lining up with full squads for the event. Riding for Holdsworth Campagnolo will have a squad of international and UK based riders competing; Team Captain Russ Downing, Tom and Leon Mazzone, Jake Womersley and Italian riders Mattia Viel and Seid Lidze will be pulling on the team colours in competition for the first time.

Join us at the event and be sure to cheer the lads on as we compete in the bike race named in honour of the man who created the original Holdsworth Campagnolo pro cycling team. If you can’t turn up be sure to tune in online and check out the action from our Team Holdsworth Instagram Feed which will be updating during the race.
